Official: Favipiravir test shows 60% of patients cured on 5th day

MOSCOW, May 13 (PRIME) -- The first results of a clinical test of the Favipiravir drug showed that 60% of patients with the COVID-19 test negative for the virus on the fifth day of therapy with the medicine, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev said on Wednesday.  

"The results of a clinical test confirm that Favipiravir might be the most efficient drug at this stage to treat the coronavirus," Dmitriev said.

"The results of the first 60 patients in six centers demonstrate very important statistics that say that 60% of the patients taking the medicine test negative for the coronavirus on the fifth day of the therapy."

Dmitriev also said that the clinical test is to be complete at the end of May.
